Packing Carry-On Bags For Holiday Travel

While preparing for the holiday travel season, it’s important to remember which items are allowed in carry-on bags and which are not. Before packing your holiday essentials, be sure to review this list; some of the restricted items may surprise you. Here's a quick glimpse:

Items NOT Allowed in Carry-On Bags

  • Gravy, cranberry sauce, wine, and jams/jellies/preserves (unless less than 3.4 ounces)
  • Box cutter
  • Cast iron cookware
  • Cooking spray
  • English Christmas crackers/party poppers (not allowed in carry-on or checked bag)
  • Snow cleats 

Items Allowed in Carry-On Bags

  • Blender (blade must be removed)
  • Bread and bread machine 
  • Christmas/holiday lights
  • Cooked meat, seafood, and vegetables (no liquid)
  • Cookies, pies, and cakes

For items you wish to carry on, be sure to check with the airline to ensure that the item will fit in the overhead bin or underneath the seat of the airplane.
