Alaskan Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines Clear Antitrust Review For Merger

Alaskan Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have cleared the antitrust review by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice, allowing them to move forward with their planned merger. Alaskan Airlines said that clearing this step comes as “a significant milestone in the process to join our airlines."

The proposed merger will still be reviewed by the U.S.  Department of Transportation before the companies can begin integrating. Hawaii's governor, Josh Green, stated that after this merger “a stronger company will emerge and offer more travel options for Hawaii residents and local businesses — and will enhance competition across the U.S. airline industry.”
