Ecuador’s Ministry of Health recently announced that all visitors entering Ecuador - including the Galapagos Islands - will be required to have proof of health insurance that will provide coverage for the duration of their stay in Ecuador. This executive order by the Government of Ecuador takes effect May 1, 2018. The best way for travelers to meet this requirement is to have proof of Travel Insurance which includes adequate medical coverage benefit for the duration of travel and stay in Ecuador.
