Update: FAA Travel Restrictions Due to Government Shutdown

Due to the ongoing government shutdown, travelers may experience potential disruptions that could impact upcoming travel plans. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it will reduce flight capacity by 10% at 40 major airports across the country, beginning November 7th. Airlines have issued flight waivers to allow for itinerary changes. Please review the direct communications from your airline and reach out to Cain to make any needed changes or cancellations. Certain federal services have also been affected, including airport security (TSA), customs processing, and air traffic control operations. Travelers may experience longer security wait times and flight delays as a result.

To help minimize disruptions, we recommend the following:

• Receive airport and airline alerts: Many airports and airlines offer text or email notifications for changes to flight status or gate assignments
  
  
• Monitor flight status: Check your airline’s mobile app or website for real-time updates regarding delays, cancellations, or gate changes
  
  
• Arrive early: Allow extra time at the airport, especially during peak hours. It's suggested to arrive at least 2–3 hours before domestic flights and 3–4 hours before international departures
  
  

• Check TSA wait times: Visit the MyTSA App or your airport’s website for real-time security line updates

• Prepare for immigration delays: Allow additional time for international layovers to accommodate possible delays at U.S. immigration checkpoints
  
  
• Pack strategically: Keep essentials (medications, chargers, a change of clothes) in carry-on bags in case of delays or lost luggage
  
  
• Book flexible fares: When possible, choose tickets or accommodations that allow for no-fee changes or cancellations
