JetBlue and United Announce a Loyalty Program Collaboration: Sky Blue

On May 29th, JetBlue and United announced Blue Sky, a new collaboration that allows customers to link loyalty programs to access more flight choices, more perks, and more ways to earn and use miles. A launch date for Blue Sky has not been announced and is subject to regulatory review.

Blue Sky includes the following components:

  • MileagePlus customers can earn and use miles on JetBlue flights, while TrueBlue members can earn and use points on United flights, allowing travelers access to new destinations

  • Each airline will offer flights on one another's website and app to make booking across the two airlines' complementary networks simple and easy

  • The benefits of each airline's loyalty program - priority boarding, complimentary access to preferred and extra legroom seats, and same-day standby/switch - will be available when customers travel on the other airline's aircraft.

  • United will return to flying to JFK International Airport as early as 2027, as JetBlue is set to provide United access to slots.

  • United will shift its website and app sales of hotels, rental cars, cruises, and travel insurance — both individually and in packages—  to JetBlue’s Paisly platform.

JetBlue and United will continue to manage and price their networks independently, including the launch of new routes, frequencies, and promotions.
