Hyatt announced on February 10th, 2025 that they have entered into an agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of Playa Hotels & Resorts, seeking to boost its presence in Mexico and the Caribbean.
Playa runs 24 high-end, all-inclusive resorts across Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. The Hyatt CEO and President, Mark Hoplamazian, stated that “Hyatt has firmly established itself as a leader in the all-inclusive space". The acquisition is anticipated to close later this year, subject to Playa shareholder and regulatory approval.
