Effective July 15 for US rentals, Hertz will join Avis by assessing a refueling fee on rentals that are driven less than 75 miles when a receipt reflecting a gas purchase (representing filling up the tank) cannot be produced. If a receipt can be produced, the $13.99 refueling fee will not be applied. The receipt will need to be presented upon vehicle return.
