According to AAA, 72.2 million travelers are estimated to travel domestically between Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, July 6. Driving remains the most popular mode of transportation for the holiday, but air travel is also expected to hit record numbers.

TSA predicts that 18.5 million travelers are expected at the nation’s airport security checkpoints between Tuesday, July 1, and Monday, July 7. TSA Acting Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill stated that “TSA continues to work closely with our industry partners and ensure our airport security checkpoints are fully staffed and prepared to handle the heavy rush of traffic.”

To avoid delays, arrive at the airport early and have your REAL ID ready for security screening.
