CDC expands negative Covid-19 test requirement to all air passengers entering the United States

Effective January 26, 2021 all air passengers entering the United States will be required to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of flight departure or proof of recovery from Covid-19. Written documentation or an electronic copy of the lab result must be presented to the airline. If a traveler does not have proper documentation or chooses not to take a test, the airline must deny boarding to the passenger per the new CDC mandate.

The testing requirements apply to all visitors, citizens, and legal permanent residents over the age of two bound for the United States. At this time airlines have not announced how or where in the travel process they will review documentation.
