American Airlines grounded all its flights Tuesday afternoon after experiencing nationwide outages in its reservation system.

The carrier-instituted ground delay is scheduled to be lifted at 5pm Eastern.

"American's reservation system is experiencing intermittent outages," American Airlines spokesperson Andrea Huguely told NBC News. "We're working to resolve the issue as quickly as we can."
